Popular Comics #52, Dell Comics 1940.There are 7 on the census.

I was never terribly interested in Dell comics until I read an issue from this time period...and much to my surprise, there were Superheroes! And an Invisible Detective called “The Voice” and more!

This issue is the first time the character is called “The Voice” and has some background on how he got his powers. There is some GGA in the Captain Tornado story, plus Martan the Marvel Man, etc:)

Some color loss at the top of the page, pages are supple and there is some NCB creasing you might not see in the scan, two chips off the right edge that I caused putting the book back in the bag. Grade is VG- (3.5) Bin is $150  sold to Casablanca.

Popular Comics #59 Dell, 1941. The Marvel Man (no longer has Marten in the title), the Voice and another series, Dr. Hormone....did you like Antman? Well this Dr has harnessed the power of the FLEA! I wonder if “someone” got an idea from this series;) ?

Nice color, decent pages, some have bent corners and there is a tear on one page in the margin. There are two long creases on the cover and 2 of the 3 staples are detached. There is a small piece of tape under the top staple, so it may have been removed. Grade is Gd/VG Bin is $125 sold to Casablanca.

Sensations are notoriously tough. I know because I was on an “upgrading tear” the last few years and they kept getting more expensive (if you could find them)

The Sensations and Wonder Womans are my “undercopies” otherwise I would not be parting with them.

Sensation #8, cgc 2.5 ow/w 1942. One of the most difficult issues to find. I had this one for more than 10 years before I found a better copy. There are 9 on the census, only 7 are universal and I own 2 of them. Bin is $850.00  sold to Norrin's Lawyer.

Sensation #19, CGC 5.0 cr/ow, 1943 a train cover, and one of my favorite covers in the run. The colors are just wonderful together, they remind me a little of the later L B Cole creations, who knows, maybe he saw this as in inspiration. Prices are all over the place on GPA, so I just prorated a bunch of sales. I know this is not an easy book to upgrade, that's for sure. This book has not been cleaned or pressed, it was from the Evelyn collection originally and I subbed it.

Bin is $1250.00 sold to Jabats

Any chance there's a 12, 15, or 21 coming around? :wishluck:

Sensation #26, Classic Train cover, CGC 3.5 sb, This is another tough book to find, it's highly sought after. I had it slabbed and I was surprised at the page designation since the  pages were nice. I suspect it's only that lower left corner that's suspect.

Great color, I know there was a low bin sale on eBay recently, but there was also a 5.0 that sold on clink last May for $1717 so I kind of prorated them. Bin is $595.00  $575

Hiya Sha! :hi: Great mix in this thread! Do I recognize that Katy Keene #7?

Hi Gene, I honestly don't remember which one I got from you, I don't always keep notes of the source, just about the characters...but probably.

I only have one #21, and I'm looking for upgrades for my 12 and 15. If I find one, I'll let you know, or if you find one that is too high grade for you, let me know:)

Just as a clue in the future, unless I mess something up, I list alphabetically and by number, almost always.
