I read Chuck's newsletter last night too, and am actually genuinely curious about his business model & finances.

Two things (besides the gender fluidity) that stuck out to me:

  • Am I reading it correctly that he's closed all his other locations, consolidating them into the single Jason Street location?
  • Am I also reading it correctly that he's primarily been kept afloat the last decade simply because of his Jason Street real estate (which apparently has a $2.2 million mortgage outstanding, yet is worth far more now due to the legalized pot boom)?

I'd be curious to see his finances vs. say, Lone Star's and Midtown Comics.

Are more people sick then previously or is it that people no longer have shame 🤷🏼‍♀️

Do you think that would have been the case twenty years ago?

Well, in NYC, probably, maybe not in Colorado.

I guess you'd have to define "sick", and explain what there is to be ashamed of?

Drag Queening is a lot of work. My fiancé (now wife) and I were invited to "Invasion" in Cherry Grove, Fire Island years ago to hang out at a beach house another friend was renting with a bunch of other guys. "Invasion" is a drag queen festival there. Anyway, it was like 98 degrees and you have to take a ferry there and I was on the ferry with about 50 of these poor guys all made up with make up, gowns, hats, etc. and they were practically melting. Drag queening like this does not work in 98 degrees and humidity.
