You missed a chance to say the octopus was "going for it". I'm a bit disappointed in you, Wally.  :taptaptap:

STARTLING COMICS #53 Canadian in 1.5/1.8. Fantastic "Xela" Schomburg airbrush cover. IMO #53 is the toughest by far of the Schomburg Startlings. Spine is rather rough, about 75% split; cover wrap is still attached at the bottom staple. Very solid eye appeal, offwhite pages. $185 + ship.

CHILLING TALES #17 in 2.0/2.5. Classic Matt Fox horror cover. Spine has two tears in the middle and paper seems weak there, but cover wrap is attached at both staples. Paper is OW and supple overall. Terrific eye appeal for the grade. $210 + ship.

WANTED COMICS #52 in 2.0. Outstanding crime book, inside and out...some of the coolest art and stories in the genre, with graphic violence and GGA hanging panels. Book looks 3.5/4.0, but spine is about 75% split; both staples are holding though I'd handle it gently. White/OW pages. $220 + ship.  SOLD

And finally, something completely different...

DETECTIVE STORY MAGAZINE, DECEMBER 1930. Striking "oriental menace" cover, with some similarity to a few of the earliest pre-Batman Detective Comics covers. Some chips and fraying on the overhang edges, but the image area and spine are beautiful for a 1930 pulp and extremely so for a black cover. Surprisingly nice offwhite pages. Maybe the only copy you'll ever see, as I've owned it 10 years and never seen another. $275 + ship.  SOLD
