Put this in the motor city comic con thread but forgot to post it here.  My favorite pickups from the day.
the Phantom Stranger was manufactured without a bottom staple and no holes, cool!  Is that common?
9.0 on the 1st full Ego.  Has a very Dr Strange vibe to the story and artwork.
9.2 on the Marvel Premiere #5, a book that is almost always in terrible shape or has a ugly miswrap white binding edge.

That DD 163 is some underrated Miller right there....keep all the Bullseye, Ninja, Elektra melodrama (though it was great stuff) and go old school, DD alone with the Hulk in Manhattan, wondering how the heck the Avengers or FF aren't showing up, and just trying to survive! Great single-issue story!

Oh my God man, those colors pop!  I knew Jimjum has great taste in books, but I am floored how beautiful they are.

Awesome pick ups.(worship)

Great find!

I would have jumped on that too.  I assume that the record is intact?

Yes it is!! I have a record player, but would have to buy a 45 rpm attachment or whatever....

I also have one that I bought a long time ago, it is a Tomb of Dracula; they're from 1974 and I want to know what 1974 scary sounds like lol

sometimes old scary is a lot different than simple jolts and noises like there is in movies now.....

The Phoenix Comicon ended today and despite a little crazy person issue (some insufficiently_thoughtful_person brought real loaded guns to shoot the green Power Ranger or some such lunacy) the show was great. I had a very successful time on the dealer’s floor. The pictures include A) a higher-grade Avon one shot: who doesn’t love those. B) Robin Hood Tales #2, a comic with Matt Baker cover and art and NO SEXY GIRL. I did not know that this type of comic existed. C) a high grade Have Gun Will Travel #7 with a great Richard Boone photo cover, D) Man From UNCLE 1-3 with #2 being a double cover. Pure Gold Key goodness. E) very high-grade Gold Key Star Treks. I am in heaven. F) More surprising Gold Keys. I had never even heard of John Steele, maybe because this is the only issue. And check out that back cover pin-up. G) 2 fine Gorgos full of Steve Ditko art and one Ditko cover, H) a high-grade Lois Lane with Neil Adams cover. I got turned on to these by someone on the CGC Chat Boards and fell in love with them. Also, the Doc Strange 169 (#1) has one of the best covers from the Silver Age by the wonderful Dan Atkins. I believe that his artwork is grossly unappreciated. I) Barks Ducks: this is why we love comics. The covers work as great art and great gags , the writing is witty and laugh out loud funny, the stories are fast paced, exciting, full of twists and surprises, and loaded with character development and searching insight into the human condition, and the artwork is second to none of any genre anytime, anywhere and anywho. I know, I know: they are just duck stories. But believe me (and tens of thousands of others), these are the high-water mark for comics, right up there with Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns. If you do not experience these then you will never fully experience comics. Sort of like studying English and never reading Shakespeare or Spillane. Abd finally, J) Classics Illustrated. They are cheap, easy to find, and the ones that are good are great. Of course, the ones that are bad are horrible . Sort of like Marvel storylines. So, there it is. Sorry about the preachy Ducks digression, but someone has to say it.
