Celebrating 10 Years of CGC
Posted on 1/13/2010

We’re very proud to be celebrating this important milestone in our history. CGC opened its doors for business on January 4, 2000, in Parsippany, New Jersey, introducing independent, expert certification to collectors worldwide. Since then, we have strived to be innovators and develop new resources and services to meet the needs of collectors.
For example, in 2001, we launched the Signature Series program. In 2003, we introduced the CGC Comics Registry with 15 different set categories — today there are over 1,300. In 2006, we moved to the new Certified Collectibles Group headquarters building, a state-of-the-art, high-security facility, purpose-built to meet our unique business needs. Soon after, we introduced the Value Tier and Fast Track services enabled by new operational efficiencies. We crossed the million-book mark in 2007; we have now graded nearly 1.5 million comic books. Last year, we added new services for magazine titles Sports Illustrated and Playboy.
Above all, we value the relationships we’ve developed with collectors, who, like us, are very passionate about the hobby, its vibrant history and its exciting future to come. We want to express our deep gratitude to the many collectors and professionals who have supported us these past 10 years. As a way to say Thank You, we’ll be presenting a number of special anniversary offers throughout the year.
