Wonder Woman book among top CGC-graded comics at Dallas auction

CGC highlights from Heritage Auctions’ Comics and Comic Art Signature Auction in Dallas this month included an All Star Comics #8 (DC, 1942), graded CGC VG 4.0 (Off-white pages). The book contains the first appearance of Wonder Woman, which is noted on the CGC label. It sold for $53,775.

The Wonder Woman franchise was rebooted in the spring of 2017 with a movie starring Gal Gadot, which became one of the biggest box office successes of the year, taking in more than $800 million globally.
Other auction highlights included:
- Lot 91062 - Detective Comics #35 (DC, 1940), graded CGC VG+ 4.5 (Off-white pages). The cover features Batman. It sold for $56,165.
- Lot 91168 - Amazing Fantasy #15 (Marvel, 1962), graded CGC VG/FN 5.0 (Cream to off-white pages). This issue is known for having the first appearance of Spider-Man. It sold for $38,240.
- Lot 91110 - Science Comics #2 Mile High Pedigree (Fox, 1940), graded CGC NM- 9.2 (Off-white to white pages). It sold for $33,460.
- Lot 91219 - Journey Into Mystery #85 (Marvel, 1962), graded CGC NM 9.4 (White pages). It sold for $31,070.
- Lot 91201 - The Brave and the Bold #28 Justice League of America (DC, 1960), graded CGC VF 8.0 (Cream to off-white pages). It features the first appearance of the Justice League of America. It sold for $26,290.
- Lot 91034 - All Star Comics #3 (DC, 1940), graded CGC FN- 5.5 (Cream to off-white pages). It features the first appearance of the Justice Society of America. It sold for $23,900.
- Lot 91031 - Adventure Comics #73 Rockford Pedigree (DC, 1942), CGC NM- 9.2 (Off-white pages). It sold for $20,912.50.
