What do you need to know before the new Thor film arrives in theaters? Here's a little history and some recommended reading!

We’re just a few days away from the fourth installment of the Thor films, “Love and Thunder,” arriving in theaters on July 8. If you’ve never seen a Thor movie before, there are a few things you need to know before sitting down with your popcorn.

First, watch a few Marvel movies to get up to speed. There are nearly two dozen films, but you can skip several and knock this out if you just watch (in this order): “Thor,” “The Avengers,” “Thor: Dark World,” “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “The Avengers: Infinity War” and “The Avengers: Endgame.”

Now, go stretch those legs and take a walk to the comic book shop. Thor has existed since the 1960s in comics and there are decades of comic book stories to dig through if you want to fully understand what’s happening, or where it all might lead in the future.

And if you’re a comic book collector looking to score future key issues, these might be a good place to start. For more recommended reading, consult your local Asgardian.
