CGC-certified Superman #1 Sells For $420,000 in Goldin Sale

Posted on 10/31/2022

Realizing nearly half a million dollars, a Superman #1 graded CGC 3.0 proves the strength of Superman across grades.

A Golden Age grail, authenticated and graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), was sold in Goldin’s October Comics, Video Games, and TCG Elite Auction on October 29, 2022.

The Superman #1 graded CGC 3.0 (lot 2) realized $420,000. Generally seen as the most iconic superhero, Superman is responsible for launching an industry when he first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938. He ushered in a new type of protagonist that harkened back to ancient mythology and inspired the creation of countless heroes who dominated the newsstands throughout World War II.
