CCS Announces Faster Submission Turnaround Times

Posted on 2/2/2023

Now between just 4 to 15 days, CCS has greatly reduced its turnaround times for pressing services.

Classic Collectible Services® (CCS®) is very excited to announce faster turnaround times for our comic book and magazine pressing services. The significantly improved turnaround times are the result of a concerted effort to increase capacity and streamline workflow while never sacrificing our high standards.

These turnaround times are for CCS pressing services only and do not include additional CCS services or CGC grading turnaround times. Please note that turnaround times reflect the estimated number of working days to complete a submission delivered to CGC and CCS today. Turnaround times are estimates only and are not guaranteed.

What is pressing?

Mishandling and exposure to the elements can cause any comic book to suffer from bends, creases, tears, missing pieces, stains and tanning. Unwanted repairs — such as color touch, glue and tape — can also reduce the appeal of a comic book. CCS specializes in the correction or removal of these defects and repairs to improve a comic's appearance or desirability.

In a general sense, pressing has been around since the beginning of comic book collecting. However, crude and simple methods of pressing were frequently employed, with little thought given to long-term effects. By the 1980s, pressing became more sophisticated, serving as part of the evolving restoration process.

The process developed by CCS is designed to be safely applied multiple times to remove all defects possible. If done correctly, multiple pressings do not hurt a comic, whereas one improper pressing can cause substantial damage. The CCS process is often used to correct improper pressings in addition to defect removal.
