CGC-certified X-Men #1 Sells for $27,417 in Hake's Sale

A comic with the first appearance of Marvel Comics’ X-Men was among the books graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) that sold for thousands of dollars in a sale hosted by Hake’s Auctions on March 22, 2023.

The highest CGC-graded item in this sale was an X-Men #1 graded CGC 7.0 that realized $27,417. This book includes the origin and first appearance of the mutant superhero team known as the X-Men, as well as the first appearances of Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast, Marvel Girl, their mentor Professor X and nemesis Magneto. Since their introduction in 1963, the X-Men have starred in multiple animated series, video games and movies. The team will be rebooted once again to join the current Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future, according to Marvel Studios.

  • an Incredible Hulk #181 graded CGC 8.0 that realized $5,889
  • an Amazing Spider-Man #1 graded CGC Restored 5.0 that realized $5,799
  • a Showcase #4 graded CGC Restored 3.0 that realized $5,480
