ComicLink Offers Early Marvel and DC Comics Graded by CGC

Some of the most collectible comics of all time, which are graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), are included in the ComicLink Focused Auction on April 14, 2023.
One of the most interesting comics in the auction is an Amazing Spider-Man #1 graded CGC 5.5. This was the very first Spider-Man title, which began in 1963 — after the character made his breakout debut in Amazing Fantasy #15 the previous year. The original “Amazing Spider-Man” series ran for 441 issues until it was relaunched as Vol. 2 in 1999. The series was relaunched again in 2014 (Vol. 3), and its current series (Vol. 4) began in 2015. Spider-Man is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable heroes in all of comic books, and his early issues are also among the most collectable.

Another exciting book found in this auction is an Avengers #4 graded CGC 8.0, which re-introduced Captain America in the Silver Age. The character first appeared, however, in Captain America Comics #1 in 1941 by Timely Comics. During World War II, Captain America comics were big sellers for Marvel Comics, but by the 1950s sales had slumped and the character was put on ice — literally. He remained frozen in ice until Avengers #4, when he was revived to join the Avengers and find renewed popularity that would last for decades.
