CGC 8.0 Amazing Fantasy #15 Surpasses $250,000 at Auction

This is the sixth time in 2023 that a CGC-graded example of this comic, featuring the first appearance of Spider-Man, realized six figures.

A Silver Age comic book grail graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) climbed to six figures once again during a ComicLink auction on September 19, 2023.

Topping the results of the auction was an Amazing Fantasy #15 graded CGC 8.0 that realized $258,100. The book features the first appearance of Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962. After the character’s immediate success in Amazing Fantasy #15, Marvel rushed Spider-Man into his own monthly series, and he has become one of the most recognizable superheroes of all time. This is the sixth time so far in 2023 that a CGC-graded example of this comic has been sold for over $100,000.

  • an Amazing Fantasy #15 graded CGC 4.0 Restored that realized $19,250
  • a Fantastic Four #5 graded CGC 6.5 that realized $16,250
  • an Incredible Hulk #181 graded CGC 9.6 that realized $15,819
  • an X-Men #1 graded CGC 6.0 that realized $15,255
  • an Amazing Spider-Man #300 graded CGC 9.8 that realized $13,001
