Created by writer Arnold Drake and artist Bob Brown, Beast Boy, also known as Garfield (or “Gar”) Logan, has unique abilities that allow him to transform into any animal he can imagine, making him a shapeshifter extraordinaire. First introduced here as a member of the Doom Patrol in 1965, Beast Boy later joined the “New” Teen Titans with George Perez and Marv Wolfman’s definitive relaunch in the 1980s, where he went by the name “Changeling.”
That iconic team would become the inspiration for the animated series “Teen Titans” and later “Teen Titans Go” (where Changeling was switched back to “Beast Boy”), introducing the characters to a whole new audience. In 2023, DC Comics announced a companywide crossover event centered entirely around Beast Boy, titled “Beast World.”
There are 539 examples of Doom Patrol #99 in the CGC Census, but only three graded 9.8 and none higher. This example set a new sales record, beating the $13,200 realized by a CGC 9.8 sold in 2022.
