CGC Announces Private Signing with Frank Miller, Chris Claremont, Joe Rubinstein, Glynis Oliver-Marsh, Tom Orzechowski and Roy Thomas in Honor of Wolverine’s 50th Anniversary

CGC Signature Series is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting an exclusive Private Signing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Marvel’s Wolverine! We will be joined by Frank Miller, Chris Claremont, Joe Rubinstein, Glynis Oliver-Marsh, Tom Orzechowski and Wolverine co-creator Roy Thomas for this extremely special occasion. Each of these comic creators is well known for their work on Wolverine, and nearly all of them worked together on the incredibly iconic Wolverine Limited Series. For this special event, we are offering many signature options to choose from as well as Inscription, Remarque and Sketch options. *If you have already submitted a book for Chris and would like to change your submission to one of these new options, please email privatesignings@cgccomics.com for a one-time change. Over the course of his incredible career, Frank Miller has made a powerful impact on the comic book community, working for a variety of major publishers such as Gold Key, DC and Marvel. He is perhaps best known for reimagining Batman as a dark and brooding hero in The Dark Knight Returns saga. In addition, he has worked on some of the industry's other top titles including Daredevil, Ronin, SinCity and 300. Miller recently illustrated Cursed, a novel that is now an original Netflix series. In 2015, Miller was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame for his contributions to the comic industry.

Roy Thomas began his career in the comic industry as an assistant at DC Comics, but soon after being hired joined Marvel Comics as a writer. There he worked on many well known series including Tales of Suspense, Doctor Strange, Uncanny X-Men and The Avengers. During this time at Marvel, he co-created fan favorite characters such as Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Carol Danvers, Luke Cage and Iron Fist among many others. 

Once he became Editor-In-Chief, Thomas helped launch titles like The Defenders and What If, which have both been adapted into successful television series. Thomas eventually went back to DC and signed an exclusive writing/editing contract that led to his work on series such as Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Justice League of America. After DC, Thomas worked for Marvel, Dark Horse and Dynamite. During his tenured career in comics, Thomas has been the recipient of the industry’s Alley, Shazam and Inkpot Awards. In 2011 he was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame and the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame in 2022.

Chris Claremont began his career in comics at Marvel Comics as a college intern under Stan Lee. His first assignment was on Daredevil. Since then, he has gone on to write extremely important X-Men stories including, The Dark Phoenix Saga,God Loves, Man Kills and Days of Future Past. Claremont is the co-creator of fan favorite characters such as Rogue, Gambit, Shadowcat, Mystique, Sabertooth and many more. He has also been published by Dark Horse, Image and DC Comics. Most recently, Claremont delved back into the X-Men universe by writing a five issue Gambit miniseries and is currently working on Wolverine: Madripoor Knights. Chris has won every major industry award in America and abroad.

Joe Rubinstein has worked with many great publishers like Marvel, DC and Dark Horse Comics, inking over 2,500 comic books. One of Rubinstein’s most prolific works is Marvel’s The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, which he inked for over 20 years and for which he holds a Guinness World Record of inking more pencilers than any other inker in history. Rubinstein has also worked on titles like Infinity Gauntlet, Micronauts, Warlock, Aquaman, Archenemies, Green Arrow and Black Canary. In 1982, Rubinstein inked the fan-favorite Wolverine limited series which he worked on with Miller, Claremont, Orzechowski and Oliver-Marsh. Rubinstein received an Esiner award in 2004 and was inducted into the Joe Sinnott Inkwell Hall of Fame in 2016.

Glynis Oliver-Marsh (also credited as Glynis Wein), is a colorist who was active from the 1970s into the early 1990s. She primarily worked for Marvel Comics on titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, New Mutants, Thor and Uncanny X-Men, just to name a few! She also did work for DC Comics on titles like Batman, Superman and Adventure Comics. Glynis has been recognized for her work in the industry with a Shazam Award for Best Colorist in 1973.

From the mid 1970s to the early 1990s, Tom Orzechowski lettered nearly 150 issues of Uncanny X-Men, and had concurrent runs on New Mutants and Wolverine, plus offshoot graphic novels, annuals and miniseries. He also had stints on Jungle Action/Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Warlock, Avengers, Captain America, Invaders and Iron Man.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Tom was also the letterer on manga titles such as Appleseed, Dirty Pair, and Ghost in the Shell. He has worked with Image Comics since its inception, and has lettered Spawn, a series that has topped 300 issues, since issue one. Orzechowski has been the recipient of many of the industry's leading awards over the course of his career including the Harvey Award, Inkpot Award and Wizard Fan Award.

For this exclusive signing, ALL CGC members, including free CGC members, can submit books directly to CGC headquarters in Sarasota, Florida. CGC must receive all submissions for this event by Friday, April 19, 2024. 

If the Private Signing needs to be rescheduled, CGC will securely store all submissions in its vault until the event can be rescheduled. 

After they sign the submitted books, CGC will grade and encapsulate them with an estimated turnaround time of six weeks. If CGC pressing is also requested, the turnaround time is estimated at eight weeks. After grading and encapsulation, the collectibles will be shipped back to their owners. 

All CGC Private Signing options for the Wolverine 50th Anniversary signing will include:

• Estimated turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)

Submission Instructions 

For this CGC Private Signing event, you can ship submissions directly to CGC with a FREE membership. Paid memberships are also available and include additional benefits. For more information and to join, visit CGCcomics.com/join. 

To submit books for the signing: 

• Log onto your account or sign up for an account HERE.
• Click Submit in the CGC website navigation and select Submission Forms. 
• Next to Comics / Magazines, select Online Form.
• Select Comic or Magazine from the drop-down menu, then select Private Signing and your preferred signing option from the dropdown menu.
• Under Services, select Grading and, if you would like it, Pressing. Then hit Next in the top right section of the form.
• Enter the information requested for your comic, and make sure to check the box next to CHRIS CLAREMONT/FRANK MILLER/JOE RUBINSTEIN/GLYNIS MARSH/ROY THOMAS/TOM ORZECHOWSKI under Private Signing Details.
• On the next screen, you can add one of CGC’s custom Marvel labels to your submission for qualifying books.
• Select Add to Cart, and then repeat if there are additional books in your submission. If there are no additional books in your submission, click on the cart icon and proceed to checkout.
• Note: If you want to submit magazines, please group them together on their own private signing form separate from comic submissions. The same rule applies for any custom labels. • Put ALL ungraded books in window bags or they will not be accepted. You can purchase window bags HERE.
• Books that are already certified by CGC, including CGC Signature Series books, can be submitted for this event. CGC will remove a CGC-certified book from its holder for an additional $5 fee.
• Carefully package books in a box for shipment. If you need a CGC shipping kit, they can be purchased HERE.
• IMPORTANT:Please write CC/FM/JR/GM/RT/TO on all sides of the outside of the box. You must initial outside of the box or we will not be able to honor the submission for this signing. 
• Books will be received into the CGC system when they arrive and will be safely stored by CGC until the event. (Please note: Payments are processed as they normally are at the time of the collectibles’ arrival at CGC.)
• Once books are signed, they will start an expedited CGC grading process. 

PLEASE NOTE:

All submissions must be received by CGC no later than Friday, April 19, 2024, to qualify for this private signing event. No change requests will be accepted after Friday, April 19, 2024.

*If you submit a CGC-graded collectible that needs to be removed from its original holder by CGC, the collectible will need to go through the certification and encapsulation process again, and there is no guarantee that it will receive the same grade.
