Gaiman is best known by comic book fans as the writer behind the fantastical Sandman series published by DC’s Vertigo imprint, which has been collected into a 10-volume, #1 New York Times Bestselling graphic novel series. It was originally published as single comic book issues and has been republished in multiple editions and versions since its inception. The incredibly popular series has earned Gaiman four Eisner awards for Best Writer, along with a Harvey award for Best Continuing or Limited Series and was recently adapted into the phenomenal live-action Netflix series in 2022 with Gaiman at the helm.

Other titles that he has written for DC’s Vertigo imprint include Death: The High Cost of Living, Death: The Time of Your Life, Black Orchid and The Book of Magic. He also wrote the limited series Eternals and Marvel 1602 for Marvel Comics in the early 2000s as well as the standout title Batman: Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? for DC Comics. In 2022, Gaiman was inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame for his outstanding work in the comic book medium.
