CGC Announces Private Signing with Comic Book Creators Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad

CGC Signature Series is thrilled to announce an exclusive Private Signing with comic book creators Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad, a dynamic duo who have worked with esteemed publishing houses like Marvel, DC, Image, BOOM! Becky Cloonan is an American comic book artist and writer with a lengthy resume of industry accomplishments and accolades. Highlights include a 2013 Eisner Award win for her self-published, written and drawn "Best Single Issue/One-Shot," The Mire. In 2023, she received the prestigious Inkpot award from San Diego Comic Con which celebrates an individual's contribution to the worlds of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, film, tv and fandom.

Becky is currently up for more acknowledgements as she was honored with a pair of Eisner nominations in 2024 for Somna (Best New Series) and "The Kelpie" from Four Gathered on Christmas Eve (Best Short Story.)

Throughout her career, Becky has worked with a majority of the industry's publishers and on many major titles. She is well known to fans for her contributions at DC Comics, writing Gotham Academy with co-writer Brenden Fletcher and popular runs on Wonder Woman and Batgirls with partner Michael Conrad. Cloonan has also had notable DC art duties including American Virgin, Northlanders and Swamp Thing. She was also the first female creator to ever draw a full issue of Batman.

Other major works include DEMO, which was nominated for two Eisner Awards in 2004, and East Coast Rising, which earned her a third Eisner nomination for her first ever solo graphic novel. At Dark Horse Comics, Cloonan also contributed art to a fan favorite run of Conan and The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Written by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, Killjoys was an indie hit that served as a sequel to MCR's popular concept album, Danger Days.

At Marvel, Cloonan is best known for her Punisher run with the late, great Steve Dillon. Becky has also collaborated with Image Comics, writing Southern Cross and collecting her celebrated self-published work into the anthology, By Chance or Providence.

Currently, Becky is a founding member of DSTLRY media and has just completed her first series Somna: A Bedtime Story with co-creator Tula Lotay. Upcoming releases include HELLO DARKNESS at Boom! Studios and a TBA second title at DSTLRY.

Michael W. Conrad is a writer. His partner once succinctly described his interests as “Magic, mimes, and clowns.”

In Conrad’s brief time working in the mainstream, he has written notable characters such as Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Godzilla, Nightwing, Doom Patrol and many more. With works published by DC, Marvel, BOOM!, IDW, Oni, ComiXology Originals, Dark Horse, Image, Gold Key, Valiant, and more; Conrad has solidified himself in the industry in a few short years.

Conrad’s creator owned works such as Tremor Dose and Double Walker have been described as bleak, absurd, and horrific. In the coming months Conrad will be rolling out a number of new creator-owned works, each with the promise of dragging the reader further into the deep end of surreal terror.

For this exclusive event, ALL CGC members, including free CGC members, can submit books directly to CGC headquarters in Sarasota, Florida. CGC must receive all submissions for this event by Friday, July 12, 2024. 

If the Private Signing needs to be rescheduled, CGC will securely store all submissions in its vault until the event can be rescheduled. 

After they sign the submitted books, CGC will grade and encapsulate them with an estimated turnaround time of six weeks. If CGC pressing is also requested, the turnaround time is estimated at eight weeks. After grading and encapsulation, the collectibles will be shipped back to their owners.

The CGC Private Signing fee for Becky Cloonan is $80 per item and includes: 

• Becky Cloonan’s signature

The CGC Private Signing fee for Michael Conrad is $75 per item and includes: 

• Michael Conrad’s signature 
• Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading 
• Estimated turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)
• Encapsulation with the iconic yellow CGC Signature Series label

The CGC Private Signing fee for Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad is $95 per item and includes: 

• Becky Cloonan’s signature 
• Michael Conrad’s signature
• Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading 
• Estimated turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)
• Encapsulation with the iconic yellow CGC Signature Series label

The CGC Private Signing fee for a Becky Cloonan Remarque is $220 per item and includes:

• Becky Cloonan’s illustrated Remarque. Important: The final design and subject matter of the Remarque is at the artist’s discretion. CGC cannot guarantee Remarque requests. Limited to the first 3 submitters.
• Becky Cloonan’s signature
• Estimated turnaround time of six weeks for CGC grading
• Estimated turnaround time of eight weeks for CGC grading and CGC pressing (an additional $20 fee applies for CGC pressing)
• Encapsulation with the iconic yellow CGC Signature Series label 

Submission Instructions 

For this CGC In-House Private Signing, you can ship submissions directly to CGC with a FREE membership. Paid memberships are also available and include additional benefits. For more information and to join, visit CGCcomics.com/join. 

To submit books for the signing: 

• Log onto your account or sign up for an account HERE.
• Click Submit in the CGC website navigation and select Submission Forms.
• Next to Comics / Magazines, select Online Form.
• Select Comic or Magazine from the drop-down menu, then select Private Signing and one of the following from the dropdown menu section:
  BECKY CLOONAN, SIGNATURE; MICHAEL CONRAD, SIGNATURE; BECKY CLOONAN AND MICHAEL CONRAD, SIGNATURE; BECKY CLOONAN, REMARQUE.
• Under Services, select Grading and, if you would like it, Pressing. Then hit Next in the top right section of the form.
• Enter the information requested for your comic, and make sure to check the box next to BECKY CLOONAN/MICHAEL CONRAD under Private Signing Details.
• On the next screen, you can add one of CGC’s custom Marvel labels to your submission for qualifying books.
• Select Add to Cart, and then repeat if there are additional books in your submission. If there are no additional books in your submission, click on the cart icon and proceed to checkout.
• Note: If you want to submit magazines, please group them together on their own private signing form separate from comic submissions. The same rule applies for any custom labels. • Put ALL ungraded books in window bags or they will not be accepted.
• Books that are already certified by CGC, including CGC Signature Series books, can be submitted for this event. CGC will remove a CGC-certified book from its holder for an additional $5 fee.
• Carefully package books in a box for shipment.
• IMPORTANT: Please write BC/MC on all sides of the outside of the box. You must initial outside of the box or we will not be able to honor the submission for this signing. 
• Books will be received into the CGC system when they arrive and will be safely stored by CGC until the event. (Please note: Payments are processed as they normally are at the time of the collectibles’ arrival at CGC.)
• Once books are signed, they will start an expedited CGC grading process. 

PLEASE NOTE:

All submissions must be received by CGC no later than Friday, July 12, 2024, to qualify for this private signing event. No change requests will be accepted after Friday, July 12, 2024.

**If you submit a CGC-graded collectible that needs to be removed from its original holder by CGC, the collectible will need to go through the certification and encapsulation process again, and there is no guarantee that it will receive the same grade.
