Posted on 5/1/2025

This month’s featured set highlights Bronze Age debuts that redefined Marvel with bold, gritty first appearances that gave rise to some of its most iconic characters.

While the Silver Age is known for introducing many of the classic Marvel heroes we still love today, the Bronze Age also contributed a significant number of iconic characters, many with more complicated stories. This month’s CGC Comics Registry Set is Sweet Lou's Marvel Bronze Age 1st Appearances Collection, by Sweet Lou 14, and it includes some of the most exciting and iconic Bronze Age first appearances!

The Bronze Age of comics, roughly spanning 1970 to 1984, marked a shift toward more socially conscious storytelling. Comics began tackling real-world issues like drug abuse, racism and corruption, moving away from the sanitized stories of the Silver Age. Artists and writers were given more creative freedom, resulting in nuanced characters, and an evolving visual style that bridged classic and modern aesthetics.

Marvel introduced a wave of now-iconic characters during this era, including Wolverine, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Shang-Chi, Luke Cage and many more!

Some of the comics in this month’s featured collection include:

  • Amazing Spider-Man #101 graded CGC 9.6 – first appearance of Morbius
