Heroes Unite in ComicConnect Sale with Classic Comics Certified by CGC
Posted on 8/14/2025
Worlds collide when classic comic book heroes meet for the very first time! These are just some of the books, graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), available in ComicConnect’s Summer Mega-Monthly auction on August 24-26, 2025, for which bidding is already underway.
Among the books offered is an Amazing Spider-Man #129 graded CGC 3.0, featuring the first appearance of the Punisher (and his first run-in with Spider-Man). Published in 1974, Punisher is introduced here as a relentless vigilante hired to take down Spidey, but over the years he became one of Marvel’s most enduring antiheroes. Adding to the surge of interest among collectors, Punisher is also confirmed to meet Spider-Man for the very first time on film in next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Also offered is a Fantastic Four #12 graded CGC 4.0, featuring the first match-up between Hulk and Thing. The story sees the Fantastic Four called in to investigate Hulk’s suspected sabotage, leading to an unforgettable battle fueled by Ben Grimm’s stubborn grit and Hulk’s unstoppable rage. Now that Thing has been introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (albeit in a separate universe), it’s surely only a matter of a time before the battle of green vs. orange spills onto the big screen.
And witness the creation of DC’s World’s Finest in Superman #76 graded CGC 5.5, featuring the very first time Superman and Batman teamed up. When a cruise ship mix-up forces Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent to share a cabin, their secret identities are revealed, sparking a partnership that would define DC Comics for decades. The unlikely duo quickly became super friends, leading to decades of adventures together and finally appearing side-by-side on screen in the 2016 film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
