Creator origins: Liefeld’s career spans work on many of the industry’s top-tier comic franchises from both DC and Marvel, including X-Men, Captain America, The Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Force, Wolverine, Teen Titans and Hawkman. He single-handedly reinvigorated the New Mutants franchise, transforming it into X-Force, which launched in 1991 with sales of 5 million copies, making it one of the best-selling comic books of all time.

Liefeld started Image Comics in 1992 with his fellow peers, launching new franchises such as Prophet, Avengelyne, Youngblood, Brigade and Bloodstrike.
