Heritage Auctions has conjured a monster of a sale, featuring a mash of classic horror and movie monster magazines graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), in its Famous Monsters and Related Magazines Showcase Auction. Online bidding begins in early October for the sale, which concludes on November 1, 2025.
Included in this auction is a Famous Monsters of Filmland #83 graded CGC 9.8 featuring the Mummy on its cover, and a Famous Monsters of Filmland #99 graded CGC 9.6 with a Wolfman cover.

Famous Monsters of Filmland was the pioneering horror and sci-fi fan magazine launched in 1958 by Warren Publishing. Blending tongue-in-cheek humor with serious fandom, it introduced a generation of readers to classic movie monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein and Godzilla, while spotlighting behind-the-scenes effects and filmmakers who brought them to life. Horror and monster magazines such as these thrived as a cultural lifeline for fans at a time before VHS and the internet made films widely accessible. Its playful puns, monster stills and enthusiastic coverage kept vintage horror alive during a time when it was fading from pop culture, and inspired countless future creators, including Stephen King and George Lucas, to pursue careers in storytelling.
