CGC-certified Horror and International Comics Scare Up Excitement in Heritage Sales

Posted on 10/17/2025

Get yourself into the spirit of Halloween with these spine-tingling auctions in October.

Just in time for Halloween, Heritage Auctions is opening the crypt on two spine-tingling sales featuring horror and international horror comics graded by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®). From pre-Code chills to rare global editions steeped in folklore, these auctions showcase the darker side of comic history, where artistry and terror meet on the page.

Horror comics exploded in popularity during the 1950s, as readers embraced their shocking art, twisted morality tales and supernatural thrills. Their mix of irony, gore and social commentary made them irresistible, until the Comics Code Authority brought the era’s dark imagination to an abrupt end.
