Showcasing a remarkable run, this month’s featured set is Prof Cantley's Flash Comics 1-104- 176595.

Nearly a century ago, lightning struck the comic book world when Jay Garrick burst onto the scene in Flash Comics #1, helping launch the Golden Age of superheroes. CGC Comics Registry member Prof. Cantley must have tapped the Speed Force itself to assemble this impressive run of Golden Age Flash issues, this month’s spotlight — Prof Cantley's Flash Comics 1-104- 176595.

Jay Garrick debuted as the Flash in Flash Comics #1 in 1940 as a college student turned speedster after inhaling “hard water fumes.” He raced across America’s imagination and his success helped shape the future of superhero storytelling and laid the foundation for the Flash legacy that continues through Barry Allen, Wally West and beyond.

The original series ran 104 issues, ending in 1949 as superhero comics faded after the war. Those first issues tracked the rise and gradual shift of the character, from straight speed-based action to more experimental villains and comedic detours. The earliest stories saw Flash tackling gangsters, mad scientists and natural disasters while establishing his visual language: motion streaks, stylized silhouettes and clever panels built for speed.

Some of the Golden Age Flash comics in this month’s featured collection include:

  • a Flash Comics #1 graded CGC 6.0 Restored
  • a Flash Comics #3 graded CGC 9.2
  • a Flash Comics #5 graded CGC 5.0 Restored
  • a Flash Comics #6 graded CGC 5.5
  • a Flash Comics #7 graded CGC 5.5
