CGC Announces First Pedigree for International Comics: The Svenander File Copies

Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) is proud to introduce its very first international comic book pedigree with the formal recognition of the Svenander File Copy collection. This historic Swedish Disney collection includes Kalle Anka & C:o #1, the first Scandinavian comic book in modern comic format, along with many other key titles, such as Walt Disney’s Serier and Kalle Anka 100-sidors.

The pedigree was assembled by Lennart Svenander, chief editor at Hemmets Journal, who preserved at least two uncirculated copies of each issue starting with the very first Kalle Anka & C:o. Stored immediately after printing, the comics were exceptionally well-preserved. The copy of Kalle Anka & C:o #1 from this collection is the highest recorded in the CGC Population Report, cementing its status as the most sought-after Swedish Disney comic.

Portions of the collection began to surface in the early 1980s, quickly earning renown among collectors as the Svenander File Copies.
