Private Collection of CGC-certified Marvel and DC Grails Offered in April Heritage Sale

Posted on 3/25/2026

The G & T Collection includes high-grade comics from the Golden, Silver and Bronze Age.

An outstanding private collection of CGC®-certified comics that took more than 40 years to assemble is now being offered to collectors. Bidding is underway for Heritage Auctions’ G & T Collection - Silver, Bronze, and Copper Age Comics Showcase Auction on April 2, 2026.

Among the highlights of this auction is a Fantastic Four #1 with a Northland pedigree graded CGC 8.0 (lot 83048). This comic from the earliest days of the Silver Age helped inaugurate the modern Marvel era of comics as we know it today. Released by Marvel Comics in 1961, this is the first appearance of the Fantastic Four by the iconic creative duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

This example carries the Northland pedigree, which is considered one of the best Silver Age collections to ever surface. The collection is known for its exceptional paper quality and particularly high grades during the scarcer period of Marvel between 1961 and 1964.

Also available in this sale is a Tales of Suspense #39 graded CGC 8.5 (lot 83162). Published by Marvel Comics in 1963, this comic features the first appearance of Iron Man by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. In the comic, weapons manufacturer Tony Stark is injured and captured in Vietnam. He secretly creates an iron suit to help him escape and become Iron Man.

Stark/Iron Man continued to appear in Tales of Suspense (and was a founding member of the Avengers in 1963) until the Tales of Suspense series shifted its attention to Captain America in 1968. Throughout the decades, Iron Man remained a fixture of the Marvel Universe. In 2008, the character debuted on screen, played by Robert Downey Jr., to launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
