Creator origins: Larry Lieber is a foundational Marvel writer and artist whose credits include some of the company’s most important early stories. He scripted Tales of Suspense #39, the landmark first appearance of Iron Man, and wrote many of the earliest Iron Man adventures that defined Tony Stark’s voice and world. Lieber also contributed extensively to Journey into Mystery, helping establish Thor’s mythic tone, and to Tales to Astonish, where he shaped the early solo stories of Ant-Man. His work on early issues of The Incredible Hulk further cemented his role in building Marvel’s original superhero lineup, making his legacy inseparable from the birth of the Marvel Universe itself.
