Early CGC-certified Marvel Comics From the Dixie Cream Collection in Landry Pop Sale

Posted on 3/27/2026

The single-owner collection of classic Silver and Golden Age comics is available in an auction on April 14.

A remarkable piece of comic book history is coming to market as a collection of Golden and Silver Age classics, each certified by CGC®, surfaces after decades of careful preservation in Landry Pop’s Dixie Cream Collection auction on April 14, 2026.

According to the auction house, The Dixie Cream Collection was built in the early 1960s by a young collector using money he earned selling donuts at a local shop called Dixie Cream, and it captures the very birth of the Marvel Age. With hard-earned wages and youthful enthusiasm, he assembled a remarkable run of early Marvel milestones that have been held together since their original purchase.

Included in the set is an early run of Marvel’s first family: the Fantastic Four — including a Fantastic Four #2 graded CGC 9.8 (lot 155), with an estimate of $100,000 to $200,000, and a Fantastic Four #1 graded CGC 8.0 (lot 154), with an estimate of $70,000 to $100,000.

The Fantastic Four debuted in 1961, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and quickly reshaped superhero storytelling by making its heroes feel human. Instead of flawless icons, readers met a brilliant but burdened Reed Richards, fiercely independent Sue Storm, hotheaded Johnny Storm and transformed powerhouse Ben Grimm. While Marvel had been publishing since the Golden Age with characters like Human Torch and Namor the Sub-Mariner, under publishing banners such as Timely and Atlas, the Fantastic Four marked the true beginning of the modern Marvel Universe.

Other CGC-certified comics in this sale include:

  • a Journey into Mystery #83 graded CGC 8.5 (lot 210), with an estimate of $40,000 to $60,000
