CGC-certified Fantastic Four #1 Realizes Fantastic Six Figures in Heritage Sale

A high-grade pedigree example of the first appearance of the Fantastic Four, which is certified by CGC®, led a mostly Marvel mega-sale with a six-figure result. Bidding for Heritage Auctions’ G & T Collection - Silver, Bronze, and Copper Age Comics Showcase Auction concluded on April 2, 2026.

Leading this auction by a stretch was a Fantastic Four #1 with a Northland pedigree graded CGC 8.0 (lot 83048), which realized $100,650. This comic from the earliest days of the Silver Age helped inaugurate the modern Marvel era of comics as we know it today. Released by Marvel Comics in 1961, this is the first appearance of the Fantastic Four by the iconic creative duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Another stark result was a Tales of Suspense #39 graded CGC 8.5 (lot 83162), which realized $53,680. Published by Marvel Comics in 1963, this comic features the first appearance of Iron Man by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. In the comic, weapons manufacturer Tony Stark is injured and captured in Vietnam. He secretly creates an iron suit to help him escape and becomes Iron Man.

  • a Journey into Mystery #85 graded CGC 8.0 (lot 83108), which realized $9,150
  • an Amazing Spider-Man #7 graded CGC 9.4 (lot 83009), which realized $8,540
  • an Amazing Spider-Man #2 graded CGC 8.0 (lot 83004), which realized $8,540
  • an Amazing Spider-Man #6 graded CGC 9.0 (lot 83008), which realized $6,710

Prices realized include a buyer’s premium.
