CGC Announces Private Signing with Eric Canete, Denys Cowan, Anthony Marques, Rod Reis, Cully Hamner, Andrew Robinson, and Karl Story
Posted on 5/5/2026
CGC is thrilled to welcome seven of the comic book industry's biggest creators — Eric Canete, Denys Cowan, Anthony Marques, Cully Hamner, Rod Reis, Andrew Robinson, and Karl Story — for an exclusive CGC Signature Series signing! Collectors can submit both comics and cards to this event.
Eric Canete is a concept artist, comic book illustrator, and storyboard artist whose signature style — kinetic, expressive, and built on a foundation of serious design craft — has made him one of the most distinctive voices working across comics and animation. His credits span some of the most recognizable properties in both mediums: Iron Man: Enter The Mandarin (Marvel Comics), Run Love Kill (Image Comics), Aeon Flux (MTV), Ben 10: Alien Force (Cartoon Network), Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans, The Batman (Warner Bros. Animation), TRON: Uprising (Disney TVA), and Killer Instinct (Microsoft).
Most recently, Canete completed his interior run on Absolute Batman (issues #17 and #18) and is currently contributing covers to Thundercats and Transformers, a slate that reflects both the range and the demand his work continues to command.
Denys Cowan is an accomplished and celebrated comic and animation creator and illustrator. Founder of Milestone Media, which sold over 10 million copies of groundbreaking comic books, Cowan has numerous credits to his name, including: Black Racer, Deathstroke, Black Lightning/Hong Kong Phooey, Batman: Lovers & Madmen, Blind Justice, Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers, The Question, Hardware, and Static.
Static became one of the most beloved characters in the Milestone Universe, spawning a hugely successful animated series, Static Shock. During its run, the series was the only animated show not produced by Nickelodeon to dominate ratings.
Cowan directed and produced the series, which was nominated for an Emmy. As Senior Vice President of Animation at BET, Cowan was responsible for the creation, development, and production of animated programming for the network. This included the development and production of the Black Panther animated series. Prior to his time at BET, Cowan was instrumental in developing and producing the first season of the prime-time animated series The Boondocks. Serving as Senior Vice President of Motown Animation and Filmworks, he created and developed a number of shows with Fox, ABC, Disney, and Nickelodeon.
Cowan also co-created the character of Henri Ducard, as played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins. Cowan drew the cover art of the GZA/Genius of Wu-Tang Clan’s platinum-selling hip-hop album Liquid Swords. He illustrated the successful run of You Can’t Handle the Truth, a monthly full-page comic strip for Ebony magazine.
More recently, Cowan illustrated the Django Unchained graphic novel, which was inspired by the Oscar-winning film by Quentin Tarantino. He also created illustrated posters for Marvel’s Black Panther and John Wick 2.
Among comic book readers and collaborators, Cowan is the stuff of legend. His comic books have gone on to sell millions. He remains a prolific creator, illustrator, and producer. He is the recipient of the Humanitas Award, and he has been nominated for a number Eisner awards throughout his illustrious career. Cowan is also featured in Robert Kirkman’s “Secret History of Comics” in the episode titled “The Color of Comics” focusing on the history of Milestone Media.
Anthony Marques, a graduate of the prestigious Joe Kubert School, launched his career as an editor at DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment before transitioning to a full-time freelance artist. Driven by a passion for the medium, he has brought fresh and innovative perspectives to his work on iconic characters for publishers like DC Comics and Dynamite, including Batman, Superman, the Green Hornet, and the Ghostbusters.
Beyond his contributions to these major publishers, Marques also taught at the Joe Kubert School, eventually becoming its president and owner. In this role, he collaborates with other educators to mentor and cultivate the next generation of comic book creators.
Rod Reis has been working in comics since the late 1990s, building his foundation as a colorist on DC titles including Aquaman and Justice League. In 2015 he made the transition to full artist, launching two creator-owned series at Image Comics: C.O.W.L. and Hadrian's Wall. That shift opened the door to a run of high-profile Marvel work, with interior art on Doctor Strange, Winter Soldier, and New Mutants.
Andrew Robinson is a painter and illustrator whose cover work spans every major publisher in comics. His painted covers include Detective Comics, Hawkman, Starman, Superman Rebirth, Iron Man, Hydra, Star Wars, Black Panther, and JSA, among many others.
Robinson is a multi-award-winning, New York Times bestselling illustrator, recognized in particular for his painted work on the graphic novel The Fifth Beatle. His sequential work includes Batman: Black and White #5, The Ride: My Brother's Keeper, Gen 13, Dusty Star, and Harley Quinn. Most recently, he painted covers for Rick Remender's Image series The Scumbag and illustrated issue #2.
Robinson is based in Altadena, California. You can follow him on Instagram @spacejunkees.
Karl Story is an American comic book artist specializing in inking. He is one of the original members of Gaijin Studios. Over a career of almost four decades, he has worked on books such as Nightwing, Batman, Star Wars, Star Trek, Aliens vs. Predator, X-Men, Tom Strong, Terra Obscura, Ocean, Serenity, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Midnighter, as well as many others.
Cully Hamner is an artist who first gained attention with titles like Blue Beetle, where he helped redefine the character for a new generation, and has since built a career spanning major publishers. Hamner’s credits include work on The Question, Red, and Detective Comics, along with co-creating the critically acclaimed series The Black Diamond Detective Agency. Beyond comics, his storytelling sensibilities carried into film, contributing concept work to the adaptation of Red.
