CGC-certified Action Comics #1 Realizes $1.5 Million in Heritage Sale

Superman’s first appearance made two appearances in Heritage Auctions’ Comic Book Signature Auction on July 9-11, 2026, as two copies certified by CGC® sold for a combined total of nearly $2 million.
Leading the auction was an Action Comics #1 graded CGC 4.5 (lot 91002), which realized $1,525,000, and in second place was an Action Comics #1 graded CGC 6.5 Restored (lot 91001), which realized $427,000.
Published in 1938 by National Press, Action Comics #1 launched the Golden Age of comics with the introduction of Superman by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. The comic was an immediate hit, and the franchise rapidly expanded with merchandise, radio programming, and movies.
These two latest sales are now among the highest prices ever realized for this grail comic, which has now realized seven figures 11 times. Most notably, an Action Comics #1 graded CGC 9.0 realized a record sale price of $15 million in 2026.
