CGC-certified Silver and Bronze Comics Offered in ComicConnect Summer Mega Sale
Posted on 7/31/2026
Marvel Comics introduced many new characters and stories in the pages of Amazing Fantasy before arriving on Spider-Man. Now, some of those early adventures are among the classic Silver and Bronze Age comics that are certified by CGC® and available in ComicConnect’s Summer Mega Monthly auction on August 11-13, 2026.
Among the highlights of the auction is an Amazing Adult Fantasy #9 graded CGC 5.5.
Marvel Comics first published Amazing Adventures #1 in 1961, but renamed the series Amazing Adult Fantasy with issue #7. The anthology series showcased standalone tales of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and suspense, often featuring twist endings in the style that helped define the publisher's early Silver Age identity. Issue #9, offered here, featured stories by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko such as "The Terror of Tim Boo Ba,” and "The Man Who Captured Death!”
Despite its creative stories and artwork, the title struggled to attract enough readers and was slated for cancellation after issue #15. With little to lose, Lee and Ditko used the final issue of the series to introduce a new teenage superhero named Spider-Man. Released in August 1962 (with a title renamed again), Amazing Fantasy #15 became an unexpected hit and launched Spider-Man, one of the most recognizable and successful characters in comic book history.
