CGC Announces Private Signing with Doug Mahnke and David Baron

The creative team behind JLA and Dungeon Crawler Carl are joining CGC Signature Series for an exclusive comics and cards Private Signing event.

CGC Signature Series is pleased to announce an exclusive Private Signing event with the creative team of Doug Mahnke and David Baron! Collectors can submit both comics and cards to this event.

Doug Mahnke is best known for his work on series such as Major Bummer, The Mask, JLA, Batman, and Green Lantern. He has worked on many main titles and events for DC Comics including Batman: The Man Who Laughs, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Final Crisis, Superman Beyond, Seven Soldiers: Frankenstein, Black Adam, Justice League, Batman: Off-World, Superman Rebirth, Action Comics, and Detective Comics. He is currently working on a secret project for Skybound. To honor and celebrate 25 years of working for DC Comics, the publisher recently published Legends of the DC Universe: Doug Mahnke, a book showcasing Mahnke’s talent.

David Baron, a celebrated comic book colorist and writer with more than three decades in the industry, David has brought his vivid, cinematic style to some of comics’ biggest titles, including Batman: The Man Who Laughs; Superman: Last Days of Lex Luthor; The Authority; Justice League; Green Arrow; and the new Heavy Metal. His sold-out creator-owned sci-fi smash-hit STAINED showcases his talents not just as a colorist, but as a writer and world-builder. Known for bold palettes and storytelling through color, David’s work turns every page into an unforgettable visual experience.

David and Doug have worked together for more than 25 years, starting on JLA back in 2000, and have possibly produced the most pages between any artist/colorist combo. Submission Deadline

CGC must receive all submissions for this event by January 15, 2027. The deadline for international submissions is two weeks earlier than the US deadline to allow time for delivery. If the Private Signing needs to be rescheduled, CGC will securely store all submissions in its vault until the event can be held. After the submitted comics and cards are signed, CGC will grade and encapsulate them with an estimated turnaround time of six weeks. If CGC pressing for comics is also requested, the turnaround time is estimated at eight weeks. After grading and encapsulation, the collectibles will be shipped back to their owners.

Submission Instructions

For this CGC Private Signing event, you can ship submissions directly to CGC with a FREE membership. Paid memberships are also available and include additional benefits.

To submit books for the signing:

Log onto your account or sign up for an account.
Click Submit in the CGC website navigation and select Submission Forms.
Next to Comics / Magazines / Pulps, select Online Form.
Click Start New Order.
Select Comic or Magazine, then select CGC Signature Series, then select In-House Private Signing and one of the following from the dropdown menu: Doug Mahnke, Signature; David Baron, Signature; Doug Mahnke, Logo Signature; David Baron, Logo Signature; Mahnke/Baron, Signature; Mahnke/Baron, Logo Signature; Doug Mahnke, Remarque; David Baron, B&W Remarque; David Baron, Color Remarque; Doug Mahnke, Head Sketch; David Baron, Head Sketch; David Baron, Single Colors or David Baron, Dual Colors.
Under Primary Services, select Authentication & Grading and, if desired, Pressing. Then click Add Comic.
Enter the information requested for your comic and make sure to check the box next to Doug Mahnke/David Baron under Private Signing Details.
If a qualifying custom label is available, you will have the option to select one of CGC's custom labels for your submission.
Select Add Comic and repeat if there are additional books in your submission. If there are no additional books, click Review Cart and proceed to checkout.
If you want to submit magazines, group them together on their own private signing form separate from comic submissions. The same rule applies for custom labels. Group them together on their own private signing form separate from non-custom labels. See the CGC Label Gallery for available labels.
Put ALL ungraded books in window bags or they will not be accepted.
Books that are already certified by CGC, including CGC Signature Series books, can be submitted for this event. CGC will remove a CGC-certified book from its holder for an additional $5 fee.
Carefully package books in a box for shipment.
IMPORTANT: Please write DM/DB on all sides of the outside of the box. You must write this on the outside of the box or we will not be able to honor the submission for this signing.
Books will be received into the CGC system when they arrive and will be safely stored by CGC until the event. Payments are processed when the collectibles arrive at CGC.
Once books are signed, they will start an expedited CGC grading process.

To submit cards for the signing:

Log onto your account or sign up for a CGC Cards account.
Click Submit in the CGC Cards website navigation and select Submission Form.
Click the link to the CGC Cards Online Form.
Select Mail-In or Show Drop-Off under Select Submission Method.
Select Grading under Select Primary Service.
Choose Doug Mahnke, Signature or David Baron, Signature under Select Tier.
Enter the information requested for your card.
Select Add to Cart and repeat if there are additional cards in your submission. If there are no additional cards, click on the cart icon and proceed to checkout.
Carefully package cards in a box for shipment.
IMPORTANT: Please write DM/DB on all sides of the outside of the box. You must write this on the outside of the box or we will not be able to honor the submission for this signing.

Remarque, Sketch, and Signature Submission Guidelines

If you opted for a remarque, sketch, or signature with a limited number of spots, your books must be shipped within one week of placing your submission order. After shipping, you must email privatesignings@cgccomics.com with the following details:

Your order number
Your tracking number
The artist’s name you are sending books in for
The number of remarques, sketches, and limited-quantity signatures included in your order

Orders not shipped within the required timeframe may be subject to cancellation.

Please Note

All submissions must be received by CGC no later than January 15, 2027, to qualify for this private signing event. No change requests will be accepted after January 15, 2027. The deadline for international submissions is two weeks earlier than the US deadline to allow time for delivery. Membership credits and paid membership discounts cannot be applied to CGC Private Signing fees, and submissions cannot be combined with other CGC Private Signing events. If you submit a CGC-graded collectible that needs to be removed from its original holder by CGC, the collectible will need to go through the certification and encapsulation process again, and there is no guarantee that it will receive the same grade. Marker color requests are welcome but not guaranteed. Marker color choice and signature placement are at the final discretion of the signer.
