ComicConnect.com, an online auction / consignment site, just sold an Action Comics #1 CGC-certified 9.0, the world’s most coveted comic book, for $2,161,000. This figure smashes the previous record of this issue also set by ComicConnect.com

The Holy Grail of comic books, this is the highest-graded copy of Action Comics #1 in the CGC Census.

Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938, Action Comics #1 marked the debut of Superman. Originally selling for 10 cents, this comic book ushered in the age of the superhero and has transcended comic books and pop culture since.

Only about 100 copies of Action Comics #1 remain in existence.
