CGC Congratulates “Meanwhile” Comic Book Cover Contest Winner

Ringling College student Kippy Sage impressed with a connected design.

Every year, students of the Ringling College of Art and Design can elect to take part in a class solely dedicated to learning how to create comic books. The class collaborates to work on an issue of the ongoing graphic novel, Meanwhile. It’s here that each of the students gets a few pages to write, illustrate and bring their very own story to life.

CGC partners with Ringling College of Art and Design each year to ask students from this class to show off their skills by illustrating a blank CGC Variant cover of Meanwhile with the CGC logo. CGC is excited to share this year’s Meanwhile comic book cover winner, Ringling student Kippy Sage! Congrats Kippy!

CGC graded and encapsulated Sage’s Meanwhile comic, which showcases her beautiful cover design.

“It was awesome to host the Ringling contest again this year,” said Brittany McManus, CGC Signature Series Director. “We weren’t able to have the event last year because of the pandemic, so this year was extra special. Sage’s illustration really blew us away when we saw it. Her front and back cover design features such incredible detail, and her connected design really brings the book to life.“

Not only was the winning comic book encapsulated by CGC, Sage also received a copy of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns graded CGC 9.8 as a prize for coming in first place!

Thanks to the students who participated. We’ll surely be seeing great things from all of this year’s class in the future. As always, a special thanks to Ringling College of Art and Design for allowing us to collaborate on this project!
