At the top of the block was a Fantastic Four #1 graded CGC 9.0, which realized $244,000. This comic from the earliest days of the Silver Age helped inaugurate the modern Marvel era of comics as we know it today. Released by Marvel Comics in 1961, this is the first appearance of the Fantastic Four by the iconic duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The CGC Census lists more than 3,000 examples of this book, but only eight have the coveted CGC Universal blue label in higher grades than this one.
