A new year means new beginnings, and Man of Steel #1 was a new "Post Crisis" beginning for Superman and DC Comics.

What makes it special? After the 12-issue “Crisis on Infinite Earths” event in 1986, DC Comics launched a new “Post Crisis” universe with modern updates to their classic characters. Man of Steel #1 was the introduction of the all-new Superman, with an updated origin.

Why is it interesting now? A new year means new beginnings, and Man of Steel #1 was a new beginning for Superman and DC Comics. The DC Extended Universe is now embarking on a new era as well, with the recent announcement of a Superman film in development that will have a new actor in the title role.

Did you know? Man of Steel #1 Collector's Edition was the very first variant cover ever published.

Total graded by CGC: As of December 20, 2022, there are a total of 790 copies in the CGC Census, mostly the Collector’s Edition variant.

CGC highest graded: There is only one copy graded CGC 9.9, and it is the Collector's Edition variant. There is a total of 334 graded CGC 9.8.

Sales highlights: A CGC 9.8 copy of Man of Steel #1 Collector’s Edition was sold on eBay for $200 in April 2022.
