We’re celebrating Absolute August this month, and our featured comic is absolutely wonderful!

Aside from the standard edition by series artist Hayden Sherman, there are variants by Wes Craig, Jim Lee (plus a Jim Lee foil variant), Jeff Dekal, Jonboy Meyers, three by Dan Panosian, a logo variant, blank variant, and incentive covers. What makes it special? In DC's Absolute Universe, Wonder Woman is reimagined with a darker, more mythic origin that sets her apart from her mainline counterpart. This version retains Wonder Woman's compassion and unwavering sense of justice, but those qualities are tempered by a harsher upbringing that makes her more ruthless in battle and more suspicious of the world around her. The result is a hero who embodies hope not because she was sheltered from darkness, but because she chose to rise above it.

Why is it interesting now? Since its launch in late 2024, DC's Absolute Universe has become one of the biggest modern success stories, drawing both longtime fans and new readers with its bold reimaginings of iconic heroes. By placing familiar characters in radically different circumstances while preserving the core ideals that define them, the line has generated widespread acclaim and repeated sellouts across multiple titles.

Did you know? Unlike the classic Wonder Woman, Absolute Wonder Woman wasn't raised on the idyllic island of Themyscira. Instead, she was raised in Hell by the legendary sorceress Circe.
