What makes it special? This book features the origin and first appearance of Mysterio (Quentin Beck). Beck is a special effects wizard, hypnotist, and illusionist expert working as a stunt man for a major Hollywood studio. He realizes that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective criminal.

Why is it interesting now? “Spider-Man: Far From Home” arrives in theaters this July and features Mysterio as one of the main villains. This will be the second Spider-Man solo film with Tom Holland as Peter Parker.

Did you know? Although the first full appearance of Mysterio is in Amazing Spider-Man #13, it was later stated that a group of aliens Spider-Man fought in Amazing Spider-Man #2 were actually criminals in disguise - one of which being Quentin Beck.
